HEALTHY ALTERNATIVES FOR YOUR SUMMER BBQ


Eating healthy during a long weekend takes some planning! Here are my favorite healthy alternatives to summer's most popular indulgences.

INSTEAD OF A SUGARY POPSICLE...

Try a red/white/blue fruit and yogurt dessert. Use full-fat greek yogurt, fresh blueberries and strawberries, and garnish with a sprig of mint. There's lots of protein and it still looks festive.

INSTEAD OF GREASY FRIED CHICKEN...

Try almond-crusted baked chicken. This recipe from Gimme Some Oven is delicious! I love how it comes in nuggets so it's easy for the kids to eat, too.

INSTEAD OF BORING POTATO CHIPS...

I like to slice and bake up some veggies. Slice zucchini super thin and bake them!

INSTEAD OF A BACON CHEESEBURGER...

Try a salmon burger. I don't eat red meat, so this salmon burger hits the spot for me.
